When you think of stress at the helm of a tech giant like Snap, it’s easy to imagine a weight that drags down rather than lifts up. Yet, Evan Spiegel, the co-founder and CEO, shares a different perspective.

Born June 4, 1990, Evan Spiegel’s journey from a Stanford student to leading a publicly traded tech company exemplifies a balance between vision and grit.
Alongside co-founders Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown, Spiegel launched Snapchat in 2011 from a dorm room project originally called “Picaboo.”
Despite early internal drama – including Brown’s 2014 legal settlement recognizing his role in Snapchat’s founding – the company flourished, going public in 2017 and expanding far beyond its short messaging roots to a broader social media platform.

Unlike many in the CEO spotlight who describe relentless pressure in terms of anxiety or fear, Spiegel takes a refreshing stance that aligns with research from Stanford psychologist Kelly McGonigal.
